Press Release Hiab

Hiab launches three new big cranes at BedrijfsautoRAI

20/10/2015

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, 20 OCTOBER AT 11 AM EEST

Hiab, part of Cargotec, will launch three new models in its high capacity crane range at the BedrijfsautoRAI 2015 exhibition in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The new models are the HIAB X-HiPro 548, the HIAB X-HiPro 638, and the HIAB X-HiPro 658.

The models continue Hiab's drive to deliver major quality, performance and economy improvements across its new heavy lift range, "the Big Five", which includes also the HIAB X-HiPro 1058 and the HIAB X-HiPro 858. They are designed to lift heavy and bulky materials, with high speed and precision.

"Hiab wants to be the leading provider in the heavy crane segment," says Carl Gustaf Göransson, Senior Vice President, Sales and Markets. "These new models demonstrate our ongoing commitment to developing products that are perfectly matched to our customers' needs for safety and cost efficiency.  We are delighted with the customer response we have received so far."

"These cranes have been designed for performance," explains Marcel Boxem, Director, Heavy Range, Loader Cranes. "The new hydraulic and electronic systems make control of the cranes smoother, more accurate, and faster than ever before, and the new damping system creates a very stable, gentle performance when lifting. Our new control valve delivers much higher oil flows, which gives significant improvements in speed, and the new base design halves the time it takes to set the crane up for a lift."

In designing the cranes, Hiab addressed market needs for products that were fast and easy to set up at the place of delivery, yet also robust and supremely safe to operate. Unique features include a chain-driven stabiliser span, hydraulically tilting stabiliser legs, a quick to install jib, and an easy-folding jib and hoist system.

Safety innovations include auxiliary legs that are fully integrated into the hydraulic and electronic systems, Variable Stability Limit + which automatically regulates lift capacity in relation to stability, and the Load Stability System which dampens uneven lifting movement.

"The 548 and 638 are excellent working at long range, both vertically and horizontally, thanks to the long boom system with optional jib for additional reach. The 658 is a short boom version with an optimised capacity to weight ratio. It is particularly well suited for heavy lifting close to the truck bed, and allows a heavier payload due to its relatively low weight and compact design," concludes Sergio Peiró, Product Manager, Heavy range cranes.
