Cargotec's MacGREGOR business area providing marine cargo handling and offshore load handling solutions, has received RoRo equipment orders for four deep-sea ConRos (vessels carrying both container and RoRo cargo). The equipment will be delivered during 2010 - 2011 and the value of the orders exceeds EUR 25 million.
The order includes design and fabrication of RoRo equipment and electrically-driven liftable car decks (about 5.200 m2/vessel). There are number of advantages of the electric drives compared with hydraulically-operated units, such as no oil pollution or damage to goods, energy saving, cable wiring is easier than piping and no flushing work is required.
In the last few years, MacGREGOR has been contracted to deliver over 90,000 m2 of electrically-operated car decks, which underlies company's expertise in this field.
