Kalmar Trade Press Release

Cargotec delivers continued success in Argentina with Kalmar reachstackers

29/10/2012

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, TRADE PRESS RELEASE, 29 OCTOBER 2012 AT 10 AM (EET)

Cargotec has won contracts to supply four new Kalmar reachstackers to the Port of Buenos Aires in Argentina - the latest in a series of orders this year for major customers in South America.

Two new Kalmar DRF420-60S5 reachstackers have been purchased by Terminal Ferroviaria Argentina S.A. (TEFASA) with a further two DRF450-65S5 models sold to another key terminal at the port of Buenos Aires. The equipment is scheduled for delivery between October and December 2012. The orders have been booked into Cargotec's 2012 third quarter order intake.

The new models purchased for a Fiscal Depot TEFASA - an important Argentinian hub for incoming international cargo - will replace two competitive manufacturer's reachstackers and join an existing Kalmar DC4160 laden container handler fleet. In the second deal, the new models replace two Kalmar DC4160 laden container handlers. This key terminal currently operates four Kalmar E-One2 rubber-tyred gantry cranes, seven Kalmar reachstackers, five Kalmar DRF100 and four DCF70-100 empty container handlers, and twelve Kalmar Ottawa terminal tractors.

Marcelo Massa, Managing Director, Cargotec Argentina SRL, said: "We are delighted to continue our expansion in the South American region with the significant reachstacker sales recorded this year. Building on our successful deal in Paraguay, these new orders strengthen the relationship between Cargotec, the Port of Buenos Aires and Caacupe-Mi port in Zeballos & Pilar as we increase our mobile cargo handling equipment presence at the site. Cargotec's strong representation in the local market, its good reputation with customers and excellent after-sales support were key factors in the decisions to replace old equipment with new Kalmar reachstackers. In addition, the lower total cost of ownership we offer through high performance, energy efficiency and increased uptime were also highlighted as key factors in the decision to choose Kalmar equipment."
