Changes at the helm of Bromma Conquip

After four years of intensive intercontinental travel as president of Bromma Conquip, Terry Howell is to become the President of Kalmar's Port Division in North America. Mr Howell will also retain his position as President of Bromma, Inc, and will therefore be responsible for sales and services of all Kalmar and Bromma products in the North American market. Olli Isotalo, President of Velsa Oy, the leading independent cabin manufacturer in North Europe, will take over the position as President of Bromma Conquip, based in Vällingby, Sweden.

According to Kalmar, placing an expanded product portfolio under Mr Howell's leadership will enable the company to fully leverage his 30 years of experience in the crane and spreader market. The appointment of Mr Howell is also in line with Kalmar's restructuring earlier this year of its North American sales and service operation to achieve greater focus on specific customer segments, namely the ports and industrial sectors.

Kalmar and Bromma will team up their North American resources and Mr Howell will take over the responsibility for this new sales and service operation as provided to its port-related customers.

Olli Isotalo will be replaced as President of Velsa Oy by Jukka Niemi, currently Vice President of Sourcing for Kalmar. The changes are effective 1 January 2003.

Mr Howell expressed enthusiasm over his new appointment:

"When I agreed to take over the helm of Bromma back in 1997, I anticipated I would be doing two years of intense travelling including alternate weeks in Sweden and the US with four or five trips per year to the Far East. I have now spent almost five years above the Atlantic and Pacific and collected over two million frequent flyer miles. I look forward to returning to concentrate on the US market where I've spent the major part of my career and to renewing old friendships and business acquaintances.

"In November I turned 60, and it's time for me to limit my international travel. I've had a very enjoyable time directing the Bromma Group. We've had some significant accomplishments during my tenure as President including, most notably, the development of the global spreader, the doubling in size of our Malaysian factory and achieving the highest sales revenue in the history of the company."
