Kalmar acquires Netherlands-based port equipment/materials-handling equipment service company and a rental company

Kalmar, which is part of Kone Cargotec, has acquired the Dutch companies Peinemann Kalmar CV and Peinemann Kalmar Rental BV from parent organization the Peinemann Group for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition fits in with the company strategy of boosting its direct involvement in sales and services in the major ports and container terminals around the world. The rental business acquired will further strengthen Kalmar growth in this expanding segment.

Peinemann Kalmar CV and Peinemann Kalmar Rental BV will be renamed respectively Kalmar Nederland and Kalmar Rental, and they will continue to operate from the same location at Hoogvliet in the Port of Rotterdam.

Kalmar Nederland will continue to focus on sales and servicing of counterbalanced equipment and terminal tractors. Kalmar Rental BV will continue to develop the rental and fleet management activities.

The acquired companies employ a total of 37 persons.

Ad Kornet, currently managing director of the acquired companies, will continue in his position.

“Peinemann Kalmar has been a successful partner to Kalmar in the Netherlands. The commitment to good customer service shown by the company, as well as its long-standing experience in the rental business in this important market, have been major reasons in our taking this step. The acquisition also reflects our intention to become more directly involved in one of the world most active ports, said Christer Granskog, President and CEO, Kalmar Industries.
