Kalmar has made an agreement to acquire a majority share of its Spanish distributor Kalmar Espana, S.A. An agent for Kalmar products since 1991, Kalmar Espana, S.A. is the leading distributor and service provider for material handling customers in Spain. The sales company also has a strong customer base within the heavy industrial handling and port industries as well as a good potential to grow its rental business.
The agreement signed with Kalmar Espana, S.A. is subject to competition authority approval. The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction value.
Kalmar Espana, S.A. employs six people and had net sales of approximately EUR 11.3 million in 2005. Antonio deSebastian, chairman of Kalmar Espana, S.A. before the acquisition, will be the sales company new working chairman.
