Trade Press Release

Kalmar to acquire a sales and service company in Sweden

29/01/2007

Kalmar Industries has signed an agreement to acquire Truck och Maskin i Örnsköldsvik AB, a sales and service company assisting industrial handling customers in Norrland, the northern region of Sweden. The move strengthens Kalmar sales and service presence in that area, reinforces its strategy to be a full service provider to industrial customers and increases the company potential business in the wood handling segment.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction value. The agreement is subject to competition authority approval.

Industrial customers are an important part of Kalmar business and the need to support this segment is increasing. We offer them a broad range of solutions including the leasing and service of equipment, and operators as well. This acquisition targets the growth in Sweden and bolsters Kalmar as a full-service provider in wood handling to pulp and paper mills, and sawmills, says Kalmar CEO and President Christer Granskog.

With a well-established reputation for providing complete service solutions to industrial handling customers, Kalmar aims to merge its existing regional organisation with the one Truck och Maskin i Örnsköldsvik AB and will assume all service and other contracts previously fulfilled by the company.

Founded in 1981 by the owner of the company Arne Eriksson and a former associate, Truck och Maskin i Örnsköldsvik AB employs almost 100 people located in several sites throughout Norrland.

Truck och Maskin i Örnsköldsvik AB main activities today are the sales and service of materials handling equipment in Norrland – with a geographical area reaching from Gävle in the south to the northermost border of Sweden. Its particular specialty is the long and short term hire of forklifts and logstackers, with or without drivers, including service contracts, to major paper/pulp mills and sawmills. The company has good coverage in Norrland within its main customer segments, with four workshops; two in Örnsköldsvik and one each in Piteå and Kramfors. The company annual sales for the fiscal year ending 30 April 2006 were approximately EUR 14 million.
