In October and the beginning of November, MacGREGOR part of the Cargotec Corporation confirmed contracts for 179 cranes with a total value of over US$100 million. The cranes are destined for 43 ships on order in China and Korea, including oil/ore carriers, general cargo ships, bulk carriers and container feeder ships.

Cranes for ships being built in Korean yards are being built by MacGREGOR manufacturing partners Hochang and Dongwoo, and those for Chinese yards by CSSC Nanjing Luzhou Machine Company Co Ltd. The cranes will be delivered from the middle of 2009 until the beginning of 2011.

Taiwan Maritime Transportation (TMT) has ordered nine 318,000 dwt VLOO carriers from Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea. Each features a shipset of nine MacGREGOR cranes comprising: six GLB3025-2 dry bulk cargo cranes, with an SWL of 30 tonnes at 25m outreach; one HH800-2522,5-4 hose-handling crane; and two general purpose/stores cranes (1x GP320-1021-2 and 1x GP160-0321-2).

Six 28,000 dwt multipurpose cargo ships on order at Huanghai Shipyard for the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) will each feature three GL60 cranes.

Four 18,000 dwt multipurpose cargo ships on order at Sugang Shipyard for Enzian Ship Management of Switzerland will each feature three GL80 cranes.

Eight 8,000 dwt multipurpose cargo ships on order at Penglai/Bohai Shipyards for Interorient Navigation of Cyprus and for a German owner will each feature two GL40 cranes.

Ten 56,000 dwt bulk carriers on order at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard for E Rickmers of Germany will each feature four GLB 3026-2 cranes.

Six 1,700 TEU container ships on order at CSBC, for ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd will each feature one GL 4028/3037/2541-2 and one GL 4028/2529,3-2 crane.
