Container ship cover contracts from South Korea include lashing bridge ordersOrders for 31 shipsets of lift-away weatherdeck hatch covers for container carriers being built in South Korea were placed with MacGREGOR in November, aggregating a grand total of over 1,600 panelsFive series of container carriers ranging from 2,000 TEU to 13,300 TEU on order at South Korean yards Samsung Heavy Industries, Sungdong, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) will feature MacGREGOR hatch covers. The 31 ships have been ordered by five owners: China Shipping Container lines (CSCL), Danaos Shipping Co. Ltd, NSB/CMA -CGM, NRS, and Hartmann Schiffahrts GmbH & Co.KG (see table). The weatherdeck hatch covers are all either reduced weathertight or non-weathertight, and can be opened and closed non-sequentially. MacGREGOR equipment deliveries will take place between 2008 and 2010. Danaos five 6,500 TEU container carriers on order at Sungdong will feature MacGREGOR first combined contracts encompassing lift-away hatch covers, lashing bridges and fixed fittings. Each lashing bridge is 40m long (the ship beam) and there will be 16 per ship.
