Wallenius/Wilhelmsen projects boost MacGREGOR PCTC references

Contracts covering cargo access equipment for 16 pure car t/truck carriers (PCTCs) have been secured by MacGREGOR in the past 12 months, the commitments including systems for the largest such carriers ever commissioned.

Recent orders call for MacGREGOR to supply complete liftable car deck sets for four 6,500-unit PCTCs ordered by Wallenius/Wilhelmsen, the world largest operator in the vehicle shipment trade. The new tonnage from Hyundai Heavy Industries will be assigned for operation by the Wallenius/Wilhelmsen group company EUKOR.

MacGREGOR is required to deliver some 60,000m2 of car decks ready for installation in the newbuildings at HHI Ulsan and Samho yards, with deliveries starting in 2005 and extending into 2007.

A contract from another major Korean yard, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, specifies MacGREGOR cargo access equipment for five 6,700/8,000-unit PCTCs, also booked by Wallenius/Wilhelmsen. The 8,000-unit carriers are the largest so far ordered.

MacGREGOR will supply outfits comprising a stern/quarter ramp, side ramp, ramp cover, liftable car decks, hoistable ramps, internal doors and associated hydraulic and electric operating systems. The deliveries to DSME Okpo yard will start in 2005 and continue into 2007.
