MacGREGOR specified for Enchantment of the Seas upgradeAs part of Enchantment of the Seas lengthening and modernisation project, MacGREGOR will upgrade the cruiseship Windjammer restaurant, and supply refrigeration machinery and a service elevator MacGREGOR Passenger Ship division has won the order to upgrade areas of another Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd Vision-class ship. The latest contract calls for MacGREGOR to renovate a restaurant area, and supply refrigeration machinery and a service elevator onboard the operator cruise ship Enchantment of the Seas. MacGREGOR will modernise the ship's Windjammer restaurant on deck 9 and supply the refrigeration machinery on deck 8. The order includes the supply and installation of counters, surrounding areas, foundations and all piping. In addition, one refrigerated counter will be supplied and installed in the concierge room. The Vision-class ship will be out of service from early May to early July while it undergoes a major lengthening and renovation project. Enchantment of the Seas new 22m midsection will be inserted at the Keppel Verolme Shipyard in Rotterdam, increasing the vessel overall length to 300m (990ft) and its gross tonnage from 74,000gt to 80,700gt. The first half of the MacGREGOR work will be done during the ship crossing from the US to Europe and the other half during drydock in Rotterdam. The new midsection will add 151 staterooms, as well as a number of indoor and outdoor public areas. MacGREGOR will supply a new service elevator for this section, which will have a 13-person/1,000kg capacity and use MonoSpace* technology. This renovation is the latest in a series undertaken by Royal Caribbean including the 1,602-passenger cruiseship Nordic Empress, which was extensively refurbished and reintroduced as Empress of the Seas last year.
