MacGREGOR RoRo packages serve Color Line Superspeed pair
RoRo cargo access/transfer systems from MacGREGOR will enhance the turnround efficiency of two fast RoPax ferries ordered by Color Line from Aker Finnyards
Significant investment in innovative new tonnage in recent years by Color Line was sustained by the Norwegian owner contract in December for two RoPax day ferries to inaugurate the Color Line Superspeed service linking Norway and Denmark.
To be built by Aker Finnyards Rauma facility for handover in 2007 and 2008, each 211m-long vessel is designed to carry 1,800 passengers and 2km of trailers at a service speed of 27 knots. The first delivery will be deployed on the Kristiansand-Hirtshals route and the sistership on the Larvik-Hirtshals route, their size and speed injecting a substantial increase in traffic capacity between the countries.
High efficiency and safety in handling freight vehicles and cars at the terminals is sought from a RoRo system designed and installed by MacGREGOR, with access arranged at bow and stern. The main elements of each outfit will comprise:
bow door bow ramp/door stern ramp/door hoistable tilting ramp front door liftable bulwark hoistable car deck and deck access ramps tilting access ramp to car deck.
MacGREGOR will also supply pilot/bunker and passenger doors as well as the hydraulic power packs to operate all the equipment.
