The innovative pairfor the Travem¼nde (Germany)-Trelleborg (Sweden) route benefit from comprehensiveMacGREGOR cargo access/transfer equipment outfits providing bow, stern and side loadingarrangements. MacGREGOR is now supplying key elements for SSWconversion into RoPax ferries of the existing 30,800gt combi-ferries Nils Holgersson Vand Peter Pan IV. The current freight capacity of each vessel around 1,500lane-m on two decks will be extended to 2,200 lane-m on three decks, withaccommodation arranged for 326 passengers in 134 cabins. Renamed respectively Tom Sawyer and HuckleberryFinn, the converted pair will be deployed on the Rostock-Trelleborg service, replacingthe freight ferries TT-Traveller and Saga Star and creating the opportunityfor significant market growth in this traffic. Meeting a tight delivery date, MacGREGOR was selected tosupply and commission a large tilting ramp for each conversion project. The 52m-long x3.7m-wide ramps weigh around 55 tonnes apiece and are designed with a lifting capacity of100 tonnes.
