CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, 8 JUNE 2017 AT 10:00 AM (EEST)
Navis, part of Cargotec, receives certification for its CO2 monitoring software
A global certification organisation DNV GL has granted Navis, part of Cargotec's business area Kalmar, an MRV Ready classification for its Bluetracker MRV module.
According to the DNV GL, Navis's Bluetracker MRV module meets the EU monitoring, reporting and verification regulation (MRV) regulations, supporting the prescribed monitoring methods while collecting all MRV-relevant data.
The MRV regulation aims to quantify and reduce CO2 emissions from shipping. As of 2018, large ships using EU ports will be required to report their verified annual emissions.
The MRV regulations state that a ship monitoring plan must be submitted to accredited verifiers for validation by end-August 2017. Navis's MRV software is well positioned to meet this need, offering Navis customers an automatic aggregation of MRV-relevant data in real time.
