The transformation towards a sustainable future impacts Cargotec’s business, and our business also impacts the world around us in many ways. These impacts are the foundation of Cargotec’s sustainability work.
Our mission to become the global leader in sustainable cargo flow can only be achieved through inclusive cooperation with all participants in our value chain. Understanding our stakeholders’ needs and expectations is a must for us to perform in the best possible way.
Based both on their potential influence on Cargotec and our potential impact on them, we have determined that our main stakeholders include customers, personnel, suppliers and investors. Other stakeholders include authorities, research and educational institutions, industry associations, local communities and the media.
We uphold an open and transparent dialogue with our stakeholders. We actively respond to information requests and proactively provide information on our website, in social media and through various forms of direct communication. We also use social media to promote transparent, two-way and real-time investor communications on group level. In addition, our business areas use social media to communicate and engage with customers.
Stakeholder engagement enables us to identify opportunities to create value and provide input for setting our sustainability targets. Integrity, fairness, confidentiality and compliance with stock exchange rules guide all our communications.
Examples of our stakeholder interaction:
Customers - engaging with our customers to improve the sustainability of their operations with our eco portfolio solutions. Our business areas gather customer feedback regularly and engage in active dialogue with them through, for example, direct meetings, marketing, newsletters and social media.
Personnel - promoting high safety levels, diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities and increasing the competence of our employees. As an employer, Cargotec focuses on personnel development and creating world-class leadership. Our ways to give a voice to employees include regular personal/group discussions between managers and their team members, as well as townhall and personnel meetings, among others, both locally and globally by offering online participation.
Suppliers - cooperating with suppliers to achieve our business and sustainability goals and help our suppliers improve their sustainability performance. Engagement with our strategic suppliers aims at developing mutually beneficial long-term relationships, greater levels of innovation and competitive advantage.
Investors - engaging with our investors in events and meetings that enhance mutual dialogue. Cargotec’s Investor Relations aims to ensure that all market participants have correct and sufficient information at all times to support a fair valuation of Cargotec’s share.
Research and education institutions - Cargotec frequently collaborates with universities and research institutions around the world.
Local communities - Cargotec’s sites are actively involved in local stakeholder engagement and goodwill. Traditionally, we engage in charity, especially during the holiday season.
Authorities - engaging with local authorities to ensure regulatory compliance in the 50 countries where we have our own operations.
Media - clear and accurate communication on our activities. Cargotec arranges press meetings in connection with, for example, trade events and result publications. We issue dozens of press releases every year that cover a wide array of topics.
