Cargotec Corporation will donate EUR 100,000 to help with the relief efforts in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The donation will be made to the Finnish Red Cross and directed to their Japanese disaster relief fund.
"The damage and losses in Japan are beyond description," said Cargotec's President and CEO Mikael Mäkinen. "Our teams locally have provided Cargotec equipment for immediate help in clearing the afflicted areas. We hope this contribution will help the relief efforts in the months to follow."
All Cargotec employees have been encouraged to donate via Red Cross or Red Crescent in their home country. Cargotec has more than 140 employees in Japan, located in Tokyo, Yokohama, Takasaki, Kobe and Tsu. All Cargotec employees have been reached. Cargotec employs approximately 10,000 people globally.
